1983 - The Samson was a floating crane working on the wreck of the Ivanhoe (q.v.) which had become a danger to shipping - and particularly to the launching of the Horton ILB. It was driven on to Horton beach in the same gale as the Tom Jay (q.v.) (ref 142)
