1895 – The Zoe was a 158 ton brigantine bound from Liverpool to Swansea with a cargo of pitch. Observers had witnessed the vessel as she struck the Mixon Sands in heavy weather. The lifeboat was launched but the vessel broke up in towering seas as they approached and there was no sign of survivors. She was only identified when the body of her Captain drifted ashore a few days later. (Ref: 089)
