The Smiling Morn and the Maria
Last Updated on Monday, 17 January 2011 10:33
1887 - The Smiling Morn and the Maria were Llanelli pilot cutters at anchor inside Worms Head, sheltering during a thunderstorm. The wind veered from southwest to northwest and drove them on to the lee shore. Their anchors dragged and the vessels became entangled, battering and eventually holing each other. The crews got ashore safely but both vessels sank. (Ref. 017)
