1878 – The Tocopilla was an iron barque of 496 tons, with a cargo of copper ore. She was lying off Rhossili beach when she dragged her anchor and drifted ashore near Diles Lake. Her crew were able to launch a small boat to save themselves. In spite of the weight of the cargo the vessel was successfully refloated on a high tide. (Ref. 011)Latest Articles
