Lammershagan

1882 - The Lammershagan, a 870 ton iron-clad German vessel bound for Swansea with a cargo of pitch, drove ashore at Pwlldu Head, possibly as a result of bad pilotage. All the crew came ashore safely but as the tide ebbed four men were sent back to protect the vessel. The weather worsened and the boat broke in two and it was only with danger and help from the Coastguard that the men made it back to shore. (Ref: 080)
