The West Cork Tourism team have now received over €2.9m in confirmed pledges and with more than €2.3m of that actually in the bank they are pressing ahead with the formation of a co-operative.
Their solicitors are finalising the documentation with the Registrar of Friendly Societies in preparation for the first A.G.M. which will take place in mid-April.
West Cork Tourism was the highest bidder at auction [for the Julia] but the bid did not meet the reserve price. They are now in direct negotiation through their solicitors, but the deal has proven very complicated due to the fact that this is a marine liquidation sale.
The old Superferry operating between Swansea and Cork until 2006.

The Julia currently being negotiated for purchase to reopen the new ferry service.
